This is an estimate of the average for people like you, not a prescription. Intakes below about 1,200 kcal a day are best planned with a doctor or registered dietitian.
Split these calories into macrosHow the estimate is calculated.
Resting energy uses the Mifflin-St Jeor equation: 10 × weight in kg + 6.25 × height in cm − 5 × age, then +5 for men or −161 for women. The result is multiplied by a standard activity factor from 1.2 (mostly sitting) to 1.9 (extremely active).

Questions about calorie needs.
How does this calorie calculator work?
It estimates resting energy use with the Mifflin-St Jeor equation, then multiplies it by an activity factor to estimate the calories you use in a typical day.
How accurate is the estimate?
Equations like Mifflin-St Jeor estimate a group average. Your actual needs can be several hundred calories higher or lower. Track your intake and weight for a few weeks and adjust from there.
Who should not use this calculator?
It is meant for adults. Do not use it during pregnancy or breastfeeding, if you are under 18, or if you have or have had an eating disorder. Ask a doctor or registered dietitian for a personal target.
